About

My name is Mike Johnsen and I am a life-long reader and writer. I fell in love with reading at six- or seven-years-old when I was given a copy of my first Hardy Boys mystery, and a battery-operated multicolored lantern. When everyone else had gone to sleep I was hidden under the bed covers with my lantern and Frank and Joe Hardy and the bad guys they were always chasing. It got downright crowded at times in that little bed.

Of course, I became a writer. Currently, I am in the third year of my Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) program for poetry. I have self-published one volume of poems, and have had poems published in literary journals. Yet, when the latest novel by, say, Cormac McCarthy or John LeCarre hits my local bookstore, I drop everything and head out the door rabid for those novels.

I’ve also run businesses for many years (too many to tell the truth) and began working with computers and technology nearly 25 years ago. So I live on a computer most days running my latest business (I run a virtual assistant company). And I love designing and building websites, and creating blogs. One of my other sites is the seattle muse; it is a literary journal of sorts, and a labor of love.

Please email me at mike@thepagehound.com with any questions, suggestions, or comments about this blog, or reading and writing, in general.
